Our Journey Through the Years

Guided by faith, service, and the spirit of cooperation, the Birhen ng Bayang San Mateo Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BBSAMAMUCO) stands as a living testimony to what a united community can build when anchored in trust in God and love for one another.

2000 – A Vision Rooted in Faith

In August 2000, BBSAMAMUCO was founded through the inspiring vision of Msgr. Mariano T. Balbago Jr., then Parish Priest of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu Parish now known as National Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Aranzazu likewise the School Director of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu Parochial School (NSDAPS). What began as a humble initiative was deeply rooted in Christian stewardship, mutual help, and service to others.

The cooperative was first formed by a group of pioneering members composed mainly of devoted NSDAPS personnel. United by faith and a shared calling to uplift one another, they laid the foundation of a cooperative built not only for financial support, but for service to the community.

2001 – Recognized and Strengthened

On January 16, 2001, BBSAMAMUCO was officially registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA). This milestone marked the formal recognition of the cooperative and strengthened its mission to serve as a trustworthy, member-owned institution guided by integrity, transparency, and compassion.

Soon after, membership was opened to NSDA Parish Organization members residing in San Mateo, Rizal, allowing the cooperative to grow while remaining firmly anchored in parish life and Christian values.

Years of Growth – Expanding Through God’s Grace

Through the years, and by God’s grace, BBSAMAMUCO steadily expanded its reach beyond its parish-based beginnings. The cooperative grew to serve members in San Mateo, Montalban, Quezon City, and Marikina City, becoming a trusted partner in the financial and social well-being of its community.

Today, BBSAMAMUCO is blessed to serve more than two (2) thousand members, each one a co-owner and steward of the cooperative’s mission.

2017 – Standing on Its Own Foundation

In 2017, BBSAMAMUCO reached a significant milestone with the establishment of its own cooperative building, no longer operating under the roof of NSDAPS. Rising from a land rich in purpose and promise, the cooperative office stood firm as a symbol of growth, independence, and God’s continuing provision.

The two-storey building features a spacious events hall on the second floor and two commercial stalls beside the building, supporting both cooperative operations and additional income-generating activities. From this point forward, BBSAMAMUCO continued to grow year after year, strengthened by the faith and unity of its members.

2020 – Faith Tested, Service Strengthened

In 2020, the world faced the unprecedented challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic. Operations were slowed, and the cooperative was forced to adopt a skeletal workforce and new ways of serving its members.

Yet even in this time of trial, BBSAMAMUCO stood firm. Guided by compassion and solidarity, the cooperative extended help and support to its member-owners, proving that its mission went beyond business—it was a ministry of service in times of need.

2021 – Rising Even in Adversity

Despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, 2021 became another year of hope and perseverance. BBSAMAMUCO successfully established an additional two-storey building located behind the main office—a residential apartment composed of six units: two two-storey units and four studio-type units.

This achievement stands as a powerful reminder that even amid uncertainty, faith, prudent stewardship, and unity can lead to growth and renewed strength.

As BBSAMAMUCO continues its journey, a Five-Year Development Goal (2024–2028) has been prayerfully established to guide the cooperative into the future. Anchored in its Vision and Mission, the cooperative commits to:

> Increasing financial capability by 100%

> Fully implementing policies and procedures that ensure transparency, equitable access, and the promotion of members’ interests

> Establishing two (2) new additional businesses

> Providing mandatory seminars for officers and continuous education, trainings, and seminars for members

> Implementing at least five (5) community development projects annually

> Fully supporting government cooperative programs, projects, and strategic linkages
